Until the introduction of the IFRS standards, many Russian companies worked in a format that was difficult to translate into other languages – not so much because of linguistic difficulties as the fact of terminological inconsistencies and mismatches between the applied concepts.

Although the terminology became more standardized after the introduction of the IFRS standards, there are still differences in the terms which must be taken into account when translating Russian reports into foreign languages.
